The 2021 Washington State Nonprofit Conference offers two Deep Dives! These sessions delve into topics after the conference to really dig into the issues at hand. The full list is below!

Emotional Intelligence

Tuesday & Wednesday, May 25 & 26, 2021

1:00pm – 2:30pm PST

Are you uncertain when to tap into or acknowledge your own or others’ emotions? Have you observed leaders who seem to lack empathy? Emotional intelligence is a vital aspect of being an effective leader. Fortunately, we can all learn and strengthen the critical skills necessary for navigating emotions and relationships.

The objectives of this leadership training with Nils Peterson and Kevin Bush are to:

  • Become more self-aware of emotions
  • Use that awareness to react positively to situations and people
  • Accurately read the emotions of others
  • And improve interactions and relationships through the power of empathy.

A special thank you to the Non Profit Insurance Program (NPIP) for sponsoring and co-hosting this Deep Dive workshop on Emotional Intelligence.

Liberatory Leadership: Moving from Imagination to Action

Wednesdays, June 2 – 16, 2021

10:00am – 11:30am PST

Do you imagine a different future for your nonprofit? One that upends traditional management wisdom? If so, this workshop series will build your capacity to envision the possibilities and take actions that work for your organization. Join us to take a deep dive into tools and strategies to shape an organization where power is distributed and the culture promotes continuous learning, dialogue, and joyfulness!

Ananda Valenzuela will draw examples from the work of RVC, a Seattle-based organization that “promotes social justice by cultivating leaders of color, strengthening organizations led by communities of color, and fostering collaboration between diverse communities.” Participants will explore the advice-process of distributed decision-making, practices to normalize and celebrate feedback, and other core components needed for distributed leadership, including actively doing equity and anti-racism work at your organization.
